t is assumed today that the family Acanski is one of native families in middle county of Backa (Vojvodina). The name itself is teritorial determination for the family since their settlement of areas of middle Backa. In fact, during numerous movements of the Serbian population upon Turkish invasion, into very poorly settled areas of Hungary, the distant fam. Acanski's ancestors had came firstly up to Danube place Ac (or Bac).

It is not known which family or tribe name they had at that time, but during the following individual movements to the north, to middle of Backa. They were named by the local population as Acani, - the people from Ac. It is possible that members of the different families or tribes, were named by the same name, although they were not family related in fact. The later modification by the roles of formation the names in Vojvodina, the family name transfered in to Acanski , what have stayed by today. The population of that name was not very numerous in fact, as some others, but nevertheless it had additionaly devided, so today there are a few Acanski families, but not family related to each other.

The Coat of Arms, whose titular is mr. Tihomir Acanski from Kula, being the family Coat of Arms, is used by other members of his family, his wife Vera Acanski-Dobrijevic, and two sons, Daniel and Emil. Vera Acanski-Dobrijevic originates from Dalmatian background (Croatia) by her parents, from the near town of Knin. The ancestors of Dobrijevic's had settled those areas moving west, upon Turkish invasion from the teritory of Zeta.
