Did you know that you do not have to be of noble origin to be in position to have the Coat of Arms? ABOUT THE COAT OF ARMS The Coat of Arms is tradition of all nations of western Europe, where they were firstly adopted in XII century, as well as the Bysanth and our teritories, where they were adopted in XIV century. The first use of Coat of Arms was to help identifiy competitors in tournaments, when the head, the face and the whole body was covered by armour. Soon after, the Coat of Arms began to appear as the artistic-symbolic identifications of feudal families and persons (at the shield, armour, dress, etc.) The full intensity of use of Coat of Arms was during the Crusades. The Coat of Arms basically consists of the shield, with the picture, helmet, the crest, the mantling, the motto, the supporters, and other elements. In the composition could be used the presentation of the decorations (former the signs of the knight's orders) usually shown arround the shield. The shield is the only neccessary part of the Coat of Arms, while the other elements could, or could not be used. The picture at the shield could be composed of geometrical shapes, animals, mythologic creatures, plants, etc. and the relations of colors and shapes are strictly determined by heraldic rules. The symbols used today may consist sometimes of modern visual presentations but it is recommended to preserve the spirit of tradition.
